Howdy!

My name is Clay Moore. I am President of the Cannabis Hemp Innovation League and a Junior Undergraduate at Texas A&M University, Whoop! I was born down in Victoria, Texas and I am an 8th generation Texan. I am currently majoring in Plant and Environmental Soil Science with a minor in Plant breeding and employed with A&M Agrilife Research. Being on the ground floor of Hemp in Texas is an Honor. I have witnessed so many people have their lives changed for the better by this plant and I want to be a part of that. I dream that I can become an Ph.D. and be part of research that contributes to new medications extracted from cannabis that dilutes the opioid crisis our world is facing.

Howdy!

My name is Meredith Clay. I am an undergraduate completing my junior year at Texas A&M University with a major in horticultural science and a minor in plant breeding. I was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up on my family’s farm developing a love for plants and the world around. With the legalization of medicinal Cannabis in Maryland, I began my trials of growing Cannabis and learning about the complexity of the plant. I found a passion for Cannabis, as a plant that has many medicinal and mechanical values. I was accepted to Texas A&M University in 2022, allowing me to pursue my dreams growing plants and Cannabis.

Howdy!

My name is Ian McGrath, I am a junior undergraduate student majoring in plant and environmental soil science. Born in ‘97 and hailing from Kyle, Texas, I am a former BIMS major and re-admit student, meaning I took a few years off of school to find my true passion. I spent time as a barista, a dog trainer, a graphic designer, among other things. But during my time off I became an avid gardener and found that I wanted to make a difference in the world. On my breaks at work I found myself reading scientific journals surrounding plant chemistry, and made the decision to re-enroll and pursue it academically.

Howdy!

My name is Chris Garcia, I am a Ph.D student studying Molecular and Environmental Plant Sciences. I was born in Fort Worth, Texas and raised in the DFW metroplex, having an interest in health sciences from a very young age. I decided to obtain my BS in Biomedical Science at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and during my time there I really fell in love with organic chemistry, giving me a reason to specialize my undergrad education around chemistry. Though I was a pre-med student, I have always been passionate about Cannabis and it’s incorporation into our evolving economy and healthcare system. While working for our Industrial Hemp Breeding Program I was able to fully indulge in the polyphenolic and anti-inflammatory properties found throughout the entire cannabis plant and hope to someday have my own extraction lab or grow operation that specializes in the utilization, production, and further public education of the health benefits of phytochemicals.
